Jewelry is both beautiful and valuable — an investment as much as an accessory. For insurance purposes, peace of mind, or resale, it may be advisable to have a professional gemologist evaluate your jewelry to determine its true value. This process is called a jewelry appraisal.
Be aware that the price you paid for a piece may not reflect its current appraised value — and vice versa. Market conditions, metal prices, and rarity all affect a stone's worth over time.
A gemologist is qualified to examine your jewelry and establish its quality. An appraiser assigns a monetary value based on market knowledge. A gemologist-appraiser — like Milton Krasner — does both: evaluating the quality of the piece and placing an accurate value on it.
Your appraiser should have formal education in gemology, years of industry experience, accreditation with gemological associations, and familiarity with current developments such as lab-grown diamonds and synthetic stones.
Krasner Jewelers is a member of the California Jewelry Association, the Jewelers Security Alliance, and the Gemological Institute of America Alumni Association. We are fully qualified to appraise your jewelry. Come into our La Jolla studio for an evaluation — by appointment only.
